ART 3072

An introductory course with emphasis on the technical and aesthetic foundations of digital photography including camera functions, composition and presentation of work. A dSLR camera is required. Photoshop techniques and file management will also be emphasized.

Upon successful completion of this course:

  • Students will express themselves clearly, logically and precisely in writing and in speaking, and they will demonstrate competence in reading and listening. (VSU)

  • Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze, to evaluate, and to make inferences from oral, written and visual materials. (VSU)

  • Students will use appropriate studio practices, including hygiene, safety, and studio policies.

  • Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of basic tools, techniques, technologies, and processes sufficient to work from concept to finished product. This involves a mastery of the materials, equipment, and processes of the discipline, including but not limited to the uses of digital technologies and lighting relationships.

  • Students will present work that demonstrates perceptual acuity, conceptual understanding, and technical facility at a professional entry level in their chosen field.
